We have seen an increased number of cases of strep throat and influenza this week in McLean. If anyone in your family develops compatible symptoms, such as fever, they should come in to see the doctor as soon as possible.
Antivirals for flu only work if started in the first 48 hours. If a patient has strep throat, targeted antibiotics like amoxicillin can help symptoms resolve much faster and shorten the contagious period.
